Lenny,

As always, great picture!  Oh, and that's an interesting road number: "6 square 1 1."   :P

A trolley in Lowell, Massachusetts a few years ago. It is part of the National Park there and free to ride. If you are in the area, it is worth checking out.

Was in Chickasha OK today and noted that three southbound UP freights were waiting for northbound UP approaching this old Rock Island yard on the Oklahoma-Texas main.  Could only get two of the three since taking photo from a public street.

I drive by CP's "Expressway" facility on Trafalgar Rd every time I go to my trailer. The only time I've seen power there, was what looked like a couple AC4400's last month.

1600 block of Lincoln Blvd, Anaheim, CA, about two miles away from Disneyland, circa 1988, when railroading in Southern California was still cool.

Thanks for the SP "Cadillac" photos.  In N scale, I have one of these SD-7s made in 1990s by Kato.  Since I model 1970 and early 1980s, I haven't weathered it to that extent.  Owning a much newer Kato N scale SD-40-2 (early version) UP, I took this close up of a prototype one this week while visiting in Oklahoma.  Union Pacific seems to run older units on the old Rock Island main line through Oklahoma. Any idea what the box attached to the right rear of the SD40-2 fuel tank is for? it appears to stand proud from the fuel tank.

Albert, you're welcome, but they are GP9's, not Cadillacs

From my New Mexico trip -- I would submit it to Railpictures, but I'm sure its not "quality" enough  :D

John,

I really like that photo.  I say go for the submission to RailPictures and see what happens.

RE: UP 1596 SD40-2 photo, Spades asked "Any idea what the box attached to the right rear of the SD40-2 fuel tank is for? it appears to stand proud from the fuel tank".   I expanded my photo and noted two fuel lines coming out of the left side of the box; the lower one has a manual faucet type cutoff valve.  The box appears to be an access cover to the fuel lines secured by brackets and a shiny removable fastener.  Probably this was a modification made at a UP shop.  I could not expand to more detail since I used a convenient 16 Megapixel Fujifilm pocket camera ($70 from Walmart).

Nice pic . Is this unit considered a "snoot" or regular nose ?
Thanks ,
Louis

Snoot, but it is the slightly shorter (116" vs. 123") snoot.
