The new MR is here and says something about "Autumn Scenery" on the front.  I'm afraid to open it and see photos of Popp's red and yellow WS trees.

And BTW, if you want some really cool out-of-the-box thinking on scenery construction techniques from Europe (in this case Hungary), check out http://harvar-d.hu/ . These two books are great!  They are made for 1:35 scale, but will "get your thinking right".

Popp sold off the layout....or was trying too.  I don't think we'll see that layout in print any time soon, unless they've got a boat load of old articles sitting around (which is possible). 

I've always wanted to do a fall diorama for photography, so the MR article interests me.  As do your links.  Thanks.

I think the thing that struck me most about this beautiful craftsmanship and the thing that made it appear so real, were the trees. Just amazing!

This is the type of modeling that inspires me and I hope to achieve that level of realism. All to often trees are modeled with no attention to what a real tree looks like  10 to 20 feet tall with brown trunks and clump foliage leaves    track is also often ignored as a model not weathered and the occasional grimy oil soiled areas missing such as around flange lubricators also weathered ballast helps to dull the bright colors of model ballast. Another thing with N scale videos is you see an awesome layout well detailed and most of the time the camera follows the train and you can't take in the scenery  HO videos do less of that.

Dave, your photo changes my previous impression about supertrees and their ilk.  I had previously thought they were too open (One should not typically see the woods floor in a mature stand of trees).  Now I see that a modeler can make them with apprpriately tight foliage.  Thanks!
