Not a valid vimeo URL
And more videos here.  Like railfanning videos, but with a focus on cool pieces:

This one was interesting and actually pretty incredible.  It shows the creation process and technique (and in the daytime!):

The difficult part, in N scale, is obtaining the TBOX.

Va va va vandalism...

Hmm... Kiz has a way
with words...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"

Why is the road number pixeled out?

I don't know why, but with the angle of the lines on her ear, I see a Vulcan pointed ear under the hair. Weird.

Coming in next month's MTL graffiti releases.  Needs some weathering.  Or maybe she's just come out of the shower (car washer?)

I was thinking almost the same thing, but I had it as a more "elvish" look from the Lord of the Rings.  Almost looks like Arwen (Liz Tyler)..... no....  :? :o

I fixed the links in the original post.  Not sure why the movie wasn't embedding.

Anyway, I was thinking about the pixelated number and I can't recall seeing another graf photo where the numbers were obscured. My guess is that the graffiti artist believes that obscuring the number provides some sort of extra anonymity, as the car location can't be determined.

Why is the road number pixeled out?

Probably because whomever took the picture likely did the graf too (or someone who had a lot of respect for the work).  They don't want a car owner (or even a railroad) to see their artwork only to immediately put in for the car to be shopped and painted over.

As long as the car owner doesn't say anything, something like that is likely to just stay out there forever.  And if they don't have any idea what the car number is it's just one of a million cars out there rolling around impossible to track it down.

The odds of someone who would care stumbling on the picture is pretty small, but I guess it's still more than zero.  Kinda like people showing off their cars online blocking out the license plates.

That all sounds good but it takes all of 5 seconds on-line to find out the car number.  :P

Vandalism, yes, but as long as the images aren't offensive (bad publicity), or blocking important stenciling (illegal), the owners aren't likely to do anything about them.  To most railroads it would just be another coat of paint protecting their metal.  Certainly not worth spending money to paint over.

I've seen a few where the artists worked the lettering into the image, either as-is or by repainting it as part of the picture, and made it look good.

... as the car location can't be determined.

I don't think that is the reason, Tom. Pay cars, such as 99% (if not more) of the boxcar fleet nationally, don't stay put for long. The railroads don't want to pay each other demurrage if they don't have to.

The difficult part, in N scale, is obtaining the TBOX.

I've got some FBOX's that it could go on.  Between the F and T, could scratch out the middle line on the F and draw it in for the T
