Trainworx Stac Pacs

Just bought a couple Trainworx Stac Pac containers from MBK just wondering if there is a special flat car these go with  Maybe the F89J ?

There's no prototypical option so you could do about whatever you want.  The BLMA car is probably closest in appearance but could result in a fairly tall car.

No, they rode on flatcars...

Most definitely.  These were lo-deck flatsw which basically by definition had 28" wheels.  In this case, the lo-deck flat is easy to spot because the Stac-Pacs were only 20' long and didn't go to the ends of the cars so you can clearly make out the coupler pocket protruding above the floor of the car.

Maybe Pat plans on tooling up a flat for these, although it would have limited use unless these were used for intermodal or autoracks after 1976. An F89A would be nice as they are similar and seen multiple uses. http://canadianfreightcargallery.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=ttx501265&o=ttx
He could tool up a tri-level rack to go on the flats to go with the Athearn bi-level and get 3 uses for the flat.

I saw these but don't remember seeing them on tracks in my area - the killer for me was that no flats available for these.

For those of us too young? to remember, how common were these back in the day? Haven't seen too many images in stills or video.

I picked up mine today, they do fit on the BLMA flats quite well. I am going to use these as stand ins until something more prototypical comes along, but I need to remove the hitch ramps to make them all sit level as can be seen in the pictures.

Here is one next to a Red Caboose auto rack for height comparison. I thought for sure it would be taller!

And another next to an Exactrail Vert-A-Pac, again surprised on hieght being so similar.

I dunno if these ever ran in the Erie Lackawanna, but they are too cool to pass up.

There's a notch in one end of the containers for a coupler pocket so hopefully a shallow deck flat is in the works.
