I have a bunch of Precision Masters 3 bay covered hoppers like this:

Does anyone make that style hopper in N scale, but with 4 bays? I have a bunch of decals for 4 bay cars. Thanks for any info.

Off hand, the only 4 bay rib side covered hopper in N scale was the old AHM (later, Concor) 58 footer.

Do have a photo of the car you are trying to model?

All I have is a Microscale diagram that shows where to put the decals on the cars. My wife took a photo of the diagram and sent it to me as an email attachment.

How do I post the photo here? I'm using an iMac. Right now, the photo's an attachment in my email.  :facepalm:

Hmm... try Scotch Tape...?


Save the pic from your email to a file on your hard drive. Depending on your email service, this may be labeled Download or Save Attachment.
Then hit the reply button to this thread. Look below the box where you type, and on the bottom left it says Attachments and other options in bold.
Click that and it will open a small blank line the says Attach with a button under it that says Choose file.
Click choose file and then navigate to your files location on your machine. Once you select your file you will get to choose file size options from a pull down menu to the right if the chosen file. Then scroll right and hit post.

I dunno. Using my limited Google search abilities all day, I couldn't find a photo of that type car.

Another thing. The decal sets I have does four different roadnames (2 are shown on the image above). I searched for those roadnames on covered hoppers, and I found three of the 4 roadnames. Only problem was, the prototype covered hoppers look like this:

and not with rib sides.

From what I can find, the car in the drawing is just wrong.  You need a 5250 hopper.  Not my time period to know for sure, but I think the Atlas trainman hopper will fit the bill.

Jason:  I would tend to agree that the drawing is wrong.  I don't remember ever seeing a 4-bay version of the PS ribbed side covered hoppers.  There may have been one, but if so, it was very rare.

The ACFX 4-bay cars I could find pictures of on the various photo sites were all ACF Center Flows, and many had the early horizontal rib, like the older Atlas 4-bay cars.
