I have a soft spot in my heart for the Pee Dee River. I remember seeing them when I was a kid on my way to Florida.

Also, Yorkrail would be a must for me.

I'm also curious, were the Family Lines and Seaboard System grays actually different? I always thought they were the same, but I now thing I was wrong about that.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Seaboard System gray = Family Lines gray.

I'm pleased with more 40' boxcars. Anything from before 7/19/1944 is welcome among my fleet.

The Pee Dee runs down by where my dad grew up, and it isn't unheard of for the Aberdeen and Rockfish to get their units onto the line in NC too; they moved a CF7 up there a couple years back for the anticipated ethanol plant traffic. I may have to get a unit, if they actually get produced that is

Well, ok, so I might be in for one Soo Line boxcar when these hit the shelf.  But honestly, I can't see going to the trouble to pre-order 1 boxcar.

I also note that they say the N scale CEI cars are a "new N scale paint scheme" but I have several Intermountain cars (pretty sure, anyway, very different from the MT cars I also have) painted in that scheme with what looks like a factory paint job.  So I assume Yesteryear or another custom paint shop did these in the past.  Sure wish they had done them in the blue scheme, which the cars wore for a longer period of time.

I don't mean to sound negative, but from a marketing standpoint, it is weird to me that both MT and now Intermountain have undertaken full sets of CEI box express cars, but to date, no one has ever produced a RTR N scale CEI passenger car, not even a foobie in CEI colors, or for that matter, an accurate RTR L&N car.  Thankfully, Laser Horizons and Union Station have turned out sides, so we have something to run along side the express cars and the occasional WoT L&N or NCStL baggage.

It depends on the source, but in my research, I believe that the grays of the Family Lines and the Seaboard System were different.  In fact, although this is based only on IM's artwork and not actual samples, it looks, to me, like they've got the right idea.  I admit that I'm colorblind and probably the last person who should offer any input, but I think that Family Lines' gray is more brown, and Seaboard System's gray is a little bluer.

As you can see below, though, it appears that Atlas uses the same gray for Family Lines and SBD.  I think that this color is more representative of the Family Lines gray.  But, there's not a huge amount of difference and weathering on the prototypes in the South pretty much made anything possible.  So, I'm okay with Atlas' version of the grays.  There are advantages to being colorblind sometimes.
