Quote
ICHABOD is a master of American freight train graffiti: prolific, durable, and consistent. In a game where thousands of graffiti writers compete to make their names as densely distributed as possible throughout the nearly two million freight cars across North America, ICH has been among the very best and most successful. Ceaselessly repeating his ultra-legible signature piece, he makes two things as likely as can be in graffiti: that his name will be rolling on every train in North America, and that you, me, and anyone else will be able to read it.

No matter how hard I try, I just cannot find any merit in graffiti.  It is strange to achieve notoriety and still remain anonymous out of necessity - it is the hallmark of criminality.  I suppose it is better than shooting people in movie theaters.

Or persecution...

Just sayin'.

Regarding most of the graffiti seen in North America I would have to agree with kornellred, and yes it better than shooting people in theatres.

Then there's the kind of graffiti that one commonly sees in places like Brazil, used for political expression by people who would otherwise have no voice. A whole different game, and I do find merit in that.

US Graffiti is often the same thing though: giving voices to those who often don't have them. While it's not usually as politically motivated, it's still similar.

Think about it: art programs are one of the first things that get cuts in downtrodden schools. That means that kids often don't have "acceptable" outlets for their artistic drives (which is something that many people have). They, therefore, have found an alternative.

Does it make it legally right? No. Does it make it ethically right? Probably not. Is it a good thing for society? Well, I'm not walking into THAT trap of a discussion.

Personally though, I wish Banksy would take on a few boring TBOXes.

When I got out railfanning with my sons, they will periodically yell out "ICH!!!!". It's the only graffiti they recognize which shows how many he's done.
Last year, they came across the Weathering Solutions Ichabod set: http://store.weatheringsolutions.com/product/ichabod-graffiti
So they have been adding those to some of their cars.

Since they switched to a thinner decal paper, the quality is much better than the first sets they were putting out.  Easier to make them "disappear..."    :D

No different than keying someone's car. It's vandalism pure and simple, and these 'artists' are a bunch of assholes imo.

This is was my first attempt at adding a tag to a car and then weathering it. It is based on a prototype photo I took at least 15 or so years ago? Not sure but I was still using film and the Bay Colony was still switching the GAF plant in Millis, Mass.
