MRL Gas Local - complete train

It ain't cheap $1360, breaks down to about $35/railcar plus list price for the two FVM SD70ACe locomotives.
I can't recall someone producing an entire train (more than a dozen cars)...has this been done before?

This is way cool for MRL fans who model N scale.  However one thing that would sink it for me is that this is PWRS, who are like the Borg of overly-aggressive model railroad marketing.

Plus at that price, do all the cars still have to be lowered and all the wheels & couplers still have to be upgraded?   (Add ~ $150 for 31 pairs of BLMA trucks.  And the slinky action would probably spill a lot of gas all over Montana  )

"All cars will be weathered" -- Sounds nice, would love to see what they look like.

Yep, pretty cool release.  If it *only* cost you $1360 it would probably be worthwhile.   But you can bet that with PWRS it's gonna cost you much more when you factor in the time to deal with the phone calls and returning unordered merchandise that "accidentally" shows up at your door.

My friend Ernie Poole modeled that train using Athearn alcohol cars.  I made custom decals for him (which I could reprint and sell if someone is interested).

Really nice Peteski.

I like the concept, but the weathering part makes me a bit nervous and the list price. Buy in bulk concept generally brings to mind some discount (I understand they need to cover the cost of the weathering)

I just checked their site (again) and there was no mention of them anywhere.  The only info I've ever seen about them was here.

Gasoline.  There's a gap in the pipeline from Billings(?) Great Falls(?), MT to Spokane, WA, and the fuel is hauled across that gap by train.  For whatever reason, and I think it involves multiple reasons, they can't repair/replace the pipeline across the gap!

I made the FRED myself. It uses the old-school LM3909 LED flasher IC in a custom circuit which uses DCC track voltage.  It is a physically large circuit but it it features a realistic rate of flashing and a gradual fade of the light (like the real thing).  The FRED itself is a piece of black styrene with a 0402 size red LED inside.  The red reflector is just a tiny piece of a red Godiva aluminum foil candy wrapper.  I have construction photos and I'm eventually going to write an article about it.
