Last weekend I was at Horseshoe Curve and Altoona:

Probably nothing photo worthy from me this weekend.  Going to be taking up some track in some spots and do some sanding of cork/foam to smooth some joints out.  Also getting a base coat of paint on everything to cover up the green foam.  Working on getting the layout ready for a layout tour in September.

Earlier this week I heard a crunching noise coming from my bedroom and walked in to find my roommate's puppy chewing on this.  So much for shutting the door.





After looking it over, I'd say it looks like a rather convincing wreck.  Better than what I could do.  It's been stuck in primer for over nine years.  Might actually be worth finishing now.

For N scale work this week, I added a TCS Z2 decoder to a LifeLike SW1200 that I've had sitting here for a while. While I had it apart, I put in a Kato brass worm gear. That went pretty well...no photos yet.

Also arrived...a killer deal on a pair of IM tunnel motors. The shells were damaged but I have a few extra shells that could use the mechanisms. I run DCC so I figured that I'd pull the motors and make them into dummy units...I'm already behind on adding decoders to the locomotives I have and I didn't want to add to the backlog. A big surprise though...when they arrived, I remove the shell and found a decoder already installed! In BOTH!
So while I was cleaning up the gears of these units, I remove the wheels and replaced with Kato low profile sets. They make them look better and the middle axle no longer hops like the stock one. After resetting the decoders, they are up and running. An overall good week of model railroading!

I've got to get out of 'summer fun' mode quickly and kick it into finish a number of T-Trak modules for the upcoming Fall show season...there's also been some talk of starting a FreeMo group in the Coast/panhandle area and I want to be part of that if it's true!

anyway, I've finished ballasting Kato Unitrack on the existing "Mother Road" modules...





I've got to agree with Peteski about the roof treatment on this particular Blair Line kit...the HO version does a better job of replicating the shingle treatment...if I didn't want to slave myself to building them OOB in order to showcase them, I would have painted the roofing material a solid color...regardless, it is a pretty nice little kit and portrays a unique and representative building style that was used all over...we've seen a few of them down here in the South as well.





I've also been adding the chipboard road, weathering them, and adding the shoulders to quite a few feet more of modules....
