ESM — White Tower 1950s Modernized Style available

While not present at the Manufacturers' Breakfast at the NSE Convention this morning, ESM still has a minor announcement:  Thanks to Shapeways introducing the extreme resolution on their ProJet printers, the 1950s Modernized Styling of out White Tower model is now available.



The model officially will be announced in the ESM Newsletter next week, but it is available now through the website.  Also now available via the Shapeways process is the White Tower in 1930s Art-Deco Styling.  Both models are stand-alone right-facing versions.  Stand-alone left-facing versions of both styles will be available in the near future.  Inset versions will not be reintroduced since the stand-alone versions easily can be converted into inset versions.

No, it's an amalgamation of various WT designs to allow modelers to easily integrate the model into their existing layout.

Were these stores mainly in a big-city or at least heavily-urbanized location? In the Midwest we had White Castle hamburgers but I never recalled seeing any in a small town. Wondering what the situation was back east.

This version - and Bryan's other one which I have in FUD and renders quite well FWIW - were mainly urban installations.

Also, the Shapeways ProJet printers in New York are newer and better-calibrated that what I had been contracting previously, so the items being rendered are the best I've seen in extreme resolution.  The pic above is after the Bestine 24-hour soak.  The finish on most of the exterior is nearly porcelain-smooth.

   don't get to Clifton every year,but in thinking about
  this now,sure the place in Clifton was/is a White Castle.
  but there may have been something similar in Hackensack
  at one time near the Susie Q and NJ&NY tracks/stations.
   any one recall that one ?

What a coincidence, I'm working on a White Tower restaurant as well. Mine's a little bigger with more of a castle look. I wished I could find the original photo I was inspired by...

Are you sure it was a White Tower and not a White Castle restaurant? They were competitors and White Castle looks more like what you are tying to model.

James, I have a White Tower book that has exterior photos of most of the restaurants.  Most of them were insets in urban settings, but there were a number of stand-alones in suburban areas.  I'll take a look and see if I can find one that matches your graphic.

Peter, the graphic while resembling WC definitely has the tower motif.  WT did that intentionally, which is one of the reasons WC forced them out.

Yeah, like I said, WC and WT were competitors.  Similar, but different buildings.
