High Speed Videos

Can someone tell me why when viewing videos of model railroads on line the trains seem to be doing 100 mph.  Slow down folks to a realistic speed.  Just thinking out loud.

I really loved the coal train that starts going by in the daylight and ends up in the dark!!
Must have been one really slow moving coal drag.

A realistic speed takes time and a lot of memory. Some sites limit file size - don't know about this one.

After filming HO and N scale stuff for the last ten years, I can say that even speeds that are prototypical for the scale, seem to show as too fast on camera.

I've had to slow trains down to half of the speed I think is good, to show "correctly" on screen. 

So it's not always about the operators, and has nothing to do with bandwidth at websites.  Sometimes people film things and think the speed is fine, when it really isn't.

That is true.  I took a series of videos of a friend's N scale layout through cab-mounted camera. What looks like a realistic (30-50 Smiles/hr) viewed through the camera  looks like the train is crawling when seeing that same train in-person moving on the layout.

And of course the speed which in-person appears to be a normal speed looks like a roller-coaster ride through the cab-mounted camera.
