You do know there are proto schemes for the Pines you haven't done yet right @Cory Rothlisberger ?

Hey leave Atlas alone, they've gone full "Micro-Trains" on us....anything goes!    :D

Seriously though, I'm in for some 48's and a few 53's and 45's.   I need to research 45's...I know there were still many in the early 2000's but percentage-wise?   I have XTRA's, not sure what else I need.

Then I hereby hijack this thread so that you all can post pics of what Pines trailers (or 45’ trailers for that matter) that you want to see…

For a brief period there were whole trains of these.  Amazingly hard to find photos today.

Dick Simon's "Skunk Trucks"?

Modeling 1974 I don't have any use for 45/48 foot trailers, but I'd buy one of those.  On the other hand, as far as I know, they never appeared on a flatcar.  At many freight house and industries, yes, so they were AROUND railroads.

45 footers became common in the 80s in tofc. Trailer train modded their flats in the early 80s to accommodate twin 45s.

Mark,

I'm glad that you brought this up, although we should probably take this to another thread.  For a while now, I've been thinking about how I can only fit one 45' trailer on my BLMA and Atlas 89' flats with the hitch set in the factory position.  Does anyone know or have a resource on how to reposition the hitches as the prototype did when they created the Twin 45 cars?

Fwiw, I think BLMA released their 89 footer in RTTX in the twin45 / triple28 config.

I'd have to check again, but, if I remember correctly, that release was too late for my era (1983-86).

Thanks,

I've exercised my library. What else do you have? Like I said, I'm open to suggestions. Especially on a 20 year old model...

Have you seen this?

Lots of good mid-80s intermodal in there: http://johnpmedia.com/prodpage_RFTCPLV1.html

Also, some of the other John Pechulis Videos are great (specifically, the ones narrated by Mike Bednar, who is a LV area encyclopedia, and quite the character).

You could start with that release, don't install the center hitch, and backdate the car with Trailer Train decals for the 'TT' logo,  TTWX reporting mark,'Twin 45' markings etc.

You could do the same with the Atlas RTTX release.

Or you could pester both companies to release TTWX and/or KTTX versions of their car.   :D

Those are pretty neat. Any close up of the artwork?

I have tried to post photos a few times now but my posts keep evaporating before I hit post. I will try again tonight.
