Corner stirrup protector

While working on the vacuum car the brass home made stirrups repeatedly got bent , a common occurrence for me . Before I refrabricate new ones I put some thought into a way to protect them while man handling the model during construction and maybe even painting and decaling . I built this pedestal which screws into the coupler 00-90 hole . The model which is shown has those gray MTL screws which has a parting line on the threads so a 00-90 is loose in the hole . It is easier to tap a loose hole than make a new stirrup should the pedestal catch on something and tear the thing off  .

Good idea - I like it!  This is why MT molds their stirrups from Delrin.  They can take some serious abuse but are not totally unbreakable.  The only negative is that, since they don't hold paint well, sometimes do not perfectly match the color of the rest of the car.

@up1950s - I like the idea but wonder if it wouldn't be better to adapt it to use the bolster pins rather than worry about futzing up screw holes?

Thanks for all the kind comments guys . I thought of the bolster location too , but I have some that are pins of more than one size and some screwed of more than one size . Also bolster holes vary in distance to the end of car . This wont work on all things that roll , nor will I use it always on everything it will work on . Some of my models require loads of hands on in its construction and re-design , and some RTR are so fragile down there I had to try something .
