I was wondering much the same...I would have thought that Dulux 'gold' would have been used on the "Railway express Agency" version, not the 'as built' version...
(I've already started stripping both of mine!...couldn't resist...I'm going to re-do the doors on one and paint it in the two-tone-I'm going to try to use my Sweetie's Silhouette Cameo to cut the new doors as a two part laminate-the other is going to give his life to breathe life into an ATSF fishbelly baggage car)

I really don't know. All color photos show the 2 tone scheme. I do like the color of the MTL lettering.

Hello,

I would like to substitute the "American Railway Express" for "Railway Express Agency". AFAIK this is correct for just until the two tone paint was introduced.

My questions are:

1. How do I remove ONLY the lettering (yellow/golden) without harming the green?

2. What decals/decal sheet should I use (from MicroScale)?

The layout was, sadly, put on hold when I took a new job several years ago, and moved north.  Still own the 3 bedroom layout cover downstate, and am planning to take it up again upon retirement in a few years.  Am working on a current layout- 3'x12', but it is more a "proof of concept" than anything specific.  The main station on this layout is a "stand in", half finished, primarily from Walthers modulars.  I am hoping to get enough work done over the summer to have some bits worth showing off.  Then will focus on finishing passenger cars. 

I am hoping to begin a model of Dearborn station sometime soon, so I have that done before laying track on the next layout.  I have encountered a problem in that I can't locate dimensioned drawings for the station itself.  I have track schematics and there are plenty of photos and magazine articles, but architectural elevations are hard to come by.

Be careful with those decals @Dave Vollmer. Mine were a little weird and ended up using the leftover Hell Gate decals. The decals appeared to be metallic copper with buff on top of it, but off center that it looked like a copper drop shadow. I actually thought they were gold leaf before closer inspection.

A 50 foot refridgerated baggage car? AHAHAHAHAHAH I'm sorry.  :ashat: :ashat: :ashat: :trollface: :trollface: :trollface:  ;) ;)
I added grab irons to mine and it looks just as good, if not better, than that brass one. The GHQ one is outstanding.
Maybe I'd change my tune if I saw one IRL, but I really think these resin ones are great! The chains on the brake wheel are better in brass, though.

MB Klein pack waiting for me at home today... :D

In it was my baggage car.  Big kudos to MTL.  I love the finish on this car.

Also in it were lots of "bits" for the Colorado Midland, including shingles, board-and-batten siding, mine carts and track, arch bar trucks, and Z scale couplers.

Mine arrived today as well.  Very pleased.  For the time being, will keep one as is, and may sacrifice the other as a core for M&R sides.  Looking forward to undecs and trucks being available.

Hope the sales meet expectations and MT is encouraged to bring out more head end cars.

+1  Mine are nice.  Looking forward to the undecs.

Also as @SkipGear pointed out to me when I picked mine up, thank whoever it was responsible for changing these so the offset bolster was moved toward the outside of the car rather than the inside as on the earlier models.  One less mod to make for closer coupling.  :ashat:
