Yeah, probably the B70...  Most B70s by our eras had porthole windows.

Still, I wouldn't kick this out of bed!

EDIT:  I should caveat that I'm also running the MTL RPO...entirely too short for any PRR RPO, but it looks so pretty!

I always give kudos publicly where and when it is due.  8)  The tooled model looks very very good in the photo.  I won't be getting the Pennsy version, but I certainly will be springing for an Erie release.

Not to be pushy, but I'd also like several pairs of those trucks, which I think are also correct for other Erie cars.

Could be a lot worse- there are manufacturers out there who would have painted it silver with a New Haven red stripe and lettered it Santa Fe.

As long as there are Erie cars, I am ok with them making foobies.  Would not mind a foobie in GTW- will save me some painting time. 

What I really like about the car is that I can see it in so many paint schemes- and even if it is not 100% correct for a given scheme, it looks so much like a baggage car that it will look pretty good in just about any heavyweight colors and lettering.  Just about every passenger railroad had some baggage cars that were "close", give or take a few inches around the doors, or no beltrail, or some such. I think if you paint several dark green, letter for your favorite road, and stick a couple on the head end of every train, very few people are going to call you on it.

I've got the RPO as well. I'm torn about this one. If I do bite, I'd want to Pennsy it up with the 3D-7P2 trucks (actually, Joe, what about shipping them that way?) and replacing the doors with porthole windows. Either way, I'll probably bite on an Erie car for interchange.

BINGO.

We all agree the tooling has to be amortized and manufacturers must do what is necessary to achieve that.  But it takes little to no effort on the part of the manufacturer to release the prototypical schemes early in the life of the model before concentrating on foob schemes.

I am sure they plan on releases that maximize their return on their investment. If a Santa Fe version could recoup the entire investment in one release it would be kind of stupid to release the proto version before the SF.  They could take the recouped money and start the next product while making profit on proto and other road names.  % made up to illustrate my point.

It doesn't come right up on a Google search but I think the "Patti" reference is for Adelina Patti, a singer and actress who was known as "The Great Patti".  She died in 1919 but was very famous around the turn of the century.

1. Would Erie cars ever be seen on the PRR Mainline?
2. I'm torn, too. The biggest thing is the car is not symmetrical. Maybe I'll get a pair or undecs and chop them, and a PRR one and replace the doors and trucks.

Because Micro-Trains has not formally announced it's April releases yet.  Joe was just giving us a heads-up.  When M-T announces, you can be sure that Chuck, BLW, N Scale Supply, Fifer, etc will have pages to pre-order.
