That guy (the one you tried to convince that N scale is not 'just a toy')...whew...
This is a pic taken from one of my  T-Trak modules, of all things!...

So; if you care to participate, what ONE (1) image would you present (either one you took or have permission to share) to this "guy" to illustrate just how realistic N scale can look when presented correctly? We're not necessarily talking about your best work, best model or most complex project, rather, the one image that captures how truly life like (no pun intended) our N scale modelling car be.....

Anything from Mark Dance, or Tim Horton's scratchbuilt and kitbashed work train.

I would tell him,

If you want to model a locomotive, choose O scale.

If you want to model a train, choose HO.

If you want to model a railroad, choose N.

Don't remember where I first heard this, but it's still true.

I agree that the guy Puddy is talking about wouldn't be swayed to change his mind about N scale. He has N scale blindness.

Hmm... and to make it
permanent, I'd poke
him in the eyes with a
banana...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Much like politics or religion , once a person has their mind made up it is nearly impossible to change it .   Anyway , here are a couple that I like.

This is probably one of my best, because it is the only picture that I have with something weathered.

EDIT: Oh, and how could this be left out?  I snapped this picture of DKS' N scale Trenton Transportation Company layout back at the CRHS Rail-B-Q in May 2014.

Bill, that picture just blew my mind.

That's the pic to show the guy in Utah! I have no N scale friends so it pics like that that really motivate me. Thanks for posting that!

Oh, there are a lot of ooohs and aaahs here; I love N scale! Nice work guys!
Bill, that 100 mph shot is awesome!
I have three photos to share from three entirely different N scale layouts:
1) Mark Lestico's Cascade sub,
2) Jason Smith's UP (oh yeah, what's with all the eSpee power Jason?), and
3), mine, LA Division, First District ( that would be Cajon Pass for you eastern guys).
Fun fun stuff!
Regards, Otto K.

I'll also go with Bill's picture.  Not for the train, there are a lot of equally good N scale train pictures, but for the sign and weeds.  Getting an N scale sign to look that good, at that magnification, must have taken an expensive printer, or a VERY good photo and darkroom work.

For an individual model, how about Ron's EP-2 thread?  All 56 pages of it, as conclusive evidence that anything possible in HO can be done in N.

LOL - darkroom?  I haven't heard that term used for a while.   Most of today's ink jets or laser printers can print at 1200 dpi or even higher resolution: Plenty good for small N scale signs.  The stop sign's lettering is a bit fuzzy, but knowing how small it is in N scale puts it in perspective.

That photo is very impressive.  I am especially impressed with the depth of field: from the grass right by the camera to the telephone pole behind the loco.  Even the tree is in decent focus. Makes me think that it is either a pinhole lens or maybe even a composite image.  I could be wrong of course. Actually, it would be interesting to find out how that photo was taken.
