DKS' trick: colored pencils, a tip that he suggested, and it works far better than anything else that I have tried.  Tip #2: The yellow will show better if you apply white first and then yellow on top.

Hmm... otherwise, people

I actually heard the designer of the kit wanted it to have five floors, buts that's another story.

Since I just posted this photo in another thread, the Little Debbie bakery is a kitbash of the GE building and one of the sawtooth factory kits.  The taller part has a trapezoidal footprint.

I am too, while your at it, the tread on the walkway should be nonskid grey, and the stepwells black. hope to have mine done by tomorrow. Pleasant surprise to see the Whiskey Southern represented here
My bad, was concentrating too much on the hand rails, didn't notice you had already done the walkways! What color did you use for the handrails? The grey walkways really make those units pop! Just got back from Janesville, there were 6-8 40-2's by the roundhouse including a couple that had just brought a dozen or so TBOX's and a tank car from Milton, sadly my camera battery was dead

I kept that issue of MR because of this layout !   

I don't know where you live but we just had the layout open to the public on the Thanksgiving weekend (Tour de Chooch).  Maybe you could come and visit someday.

MaxL  Like Bryan, I wasn't criticizing the appearance of your trestle.   It's actually a very nicely done one, and even if you HAD used 2x12s it probably wouldn't be noticed, especially with the track on it.  But if anyone else wants to build one they might as well have some prototype numbers to start with.  They might choose to ignore them, as modelers have a perfect right to do, but the information might be useful.

For a light logging road, or an interurban, or similar use, 6x12 would be quite adequate.  I'm a little surprised the D&RGW/RGS used such heavy stringers under their light trains.  The heaviest loco the RGS ever ran had a total weight-on-drivers of just under 55 tons.

It's a TrainCat etched brass   pin-connected Pratt Thru Truss, item  #1200701

Spectacular kit.  It takes patience to assemble, but the results are mighty fine.
