It really is pretty amazing how close the Walthers/LL Berk comes to capturing all the detail in the prototype 1225.   You're missing the "Pere Marquette" logo across the sand dome, and the sand dome itself is a bit different, and also missing the side marker numerals on the headlight.   But other than that, the model is darn near an exact replica.  I really hadn't focused on how good a job LifeLike did in tooling the shell for its Berk (of course, they didn't do as well in capturing the C&O version, which had significant differences from the NKP/PM version, but still . . . )

Yeah, I know, it really is a great match.  Mine was an undec version Ebay score and the movie only has POLAR EXPRESS on the tender.

That picture I took last Christmas is stunning when you download the original resolution from my Picasa site.  All of these recent pics are taken with my LG G3 cell phone camera!

John,

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you develop your project.   Research, details, electronics, paint, engineering, plus a nice human connection to a wonderful Christmas story.   All the makings of a great project,

AND A GREAT MAGAZINE ARTICLE !!!
(ya think maybe we have all beaten you to death with that idea yet?? )

Seriously, that's first-class work right there.   Great job!

This is suspicious as to why you brought back this thread. I don't think it was to get your $20 from me, I think it this is you dropping hints your article is publishing next month.

I ALSO THINK YOU BOUGHT THE JUNIATA DIVISION!

I KNOW IT IS YOU!

Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."
