Hello all,

I will be in Japan for work soon and was wondering if it was possible to get parts from kato there that might not available in the states.  Are there any "must visit" hobby shops in Tokyo?

Thanks!

I just went to Tokyo last month. Let me check my list and see where I went. The big must see it's if course the Kato showroom and shop. Actually, while your there, maybe you could see if they have the amfleet inside bearing trucks that are sold out here.

I'll give you the shop names and corresponding subway stations.

I don't know what their supply of parts is like but Tenshodo in Ginza is well worth a visit.

Not the jewelry store on the ground floor - go upstairs to to the model train shop.  There are several floors.  For me the most fun was the top floor.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

On the 3rd floor of the Kato store, they had racks and racks of parts while I was there in 2012.

You could probably pay for your entire trip by stuffing a duffel bag full of 2-8-2 tender and caboose trucks and auctioning them back off here!

I want a Kato NW2 offset gearcase without having to buy an entire NW2 to do it.   It's not even available via KatoUSA, and the NW mechanism is sold out as well.

I'm hoping to find cylinders for the GS-4 4-8-4. Do they stock parts that aren't available state side?

Caboose trucks are due October.
