Kato Tweaks UP Yellow

Although it is not a big deal, I thought it was interesting to note that on the two recently released Kato ES44AC's they have modified the yellow paint color slightly...

Once again it is a little bit orangier although it is almost impossible to tell unless two units are side by side.  This of course came up a few years back when Kato went to a darker, orangier yellow - I believe first with the release of the AC4400CW's, but more noticeably on the City of LA Set which people made a lot of fuss about.

I wonder if this is the new defacto color for the Business Car Train?

Is it orangier than the COLA set, or now moving back toward yellow... but still slightly orangey?

Yes:

ORIGINAL KATO UP YELLOW ---->>     AC4400/GEVO/SD70M/COLA   ---->>>  New Models

             yellow                                               orangeier                                 orangiest

Also,  I just found that the 5353 has the wrong paint scheme,  it should have the large flag and building america
on the inverter boxes.

Oh fiddlesticks.

Yup,  5353 was a one unit order tacked on to an order of 200 OTHER units painted the way the model is.

It was delivered last - and - has a unique - to this order paint scheme.

Took me 1 minute to find this, why couldn't Kato have bothered??

Ugh.  Even more orange is a crime against humanity.

Lou, Kato USA sent Kato Japan painting diagrams and parts lists for the ES44ACs that included the now used warning stickers while the CSX unit still doesn't have the correct wide handrails. Kato Japan does how Kato Japan feels like doing.

Was
pondering the FEF+Excursion set even if out of era/locale. Precisely too cool to avoid.

Kato waffling armour yellow towards orange makes it an easy decision!

Decision made, pass...

It's not SO dramatic a change, not like the last orange-ization....

But it is definitely different.

The 5353 makes me mad though.

But wasn't it kinda universal that Kato needed to swing it back toward yellow?

I know we have this convo all the time, but Kato just seems determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I was on the fence as well, and this does indeed make the decision for me.

Maybe those are pre-production photos and someone will convince Kato to change the color to something UP experts find acceptable?

peteski,

did someone notice this in the pre-production photos as well?  My report is about the latest (last month) re-run of
GEVO's....

As I said, it's not a dramatic change, but definitely is a change.
