Agreed, cool but the question is - are these exact duplicates of the original models, or
new artwork that corrects any original errors?

Given that it's clearly aimed at the collector base, I would think that duplicating the original artwork with new reporting marks would have been the road to travel.  But the GTW car already will be different, issued with a Superior door (with printing) instead of the Youngstown door of the original, so it appears that they won't match the Original Nine.

Seems to me that if they are going to do this they ought to update the cars and apply whatever standards they are currently using. By the time 2054 comes around they will be able to email the cars directly to us.

I have feeling that this will never happen again. Each wheelset was assembled from 3 separate parts.  Someone had to assemble them. New wheelsets are single-piece moldings.  No assembly required.

I suppose that MT could come up with a sliding mold which would produce single-piece ribbed-back wheels, but I really don't see that happening.  Those molds are more expensive to make and probably require much more maintenance.

Oh ya..... The 1972 Summit Series between Team Canada and the USSR... epic eight game series.. Canada wins game 8 with like 32 seconds to go to win the series 4 games to 3, 1 tie.... Canada was down 3-1-1 and had to win the last 3... unreal series; it was a war...pure and simple.

That would be awesome Joe!  I'll gladly eat my words, or even an a$$hat (I've heard that those don't taste so bad with ketchup and a little wasabi) if a new batch of ribbed-back wheels is produced!  Especially if they become a regular stock item.
