S.P. P10 Shell test fit on to a modified Model Power 4-6-2 mechanism.

I actually think the model lines up well as compared to an HO brass model.  A larger firebox is needed and delta trailing truck.

Matching up pretty well. Just wondering, is there any indication (via paperwork with the HO model) that the tender is a 120-C-3 or -6? The casting of the N scale tender I presume is the 120-C-2?

Mike,

The tender behind the HO model that Jason cast is a 120-C-3.  The one behind the HO model pictures above is a 120-C-5.  The n scale casting Jason has was done from the 120-C-2.  The only noticeable difference from a C-2 andC-3 is the trucks.  The C-2 has 4 wheel trucks and the C-3 has 6-wheel commonwealth trucks.  The C-5 has a completely different oil bunker and cannot be represented by Jason's current castings.

Jason,

If you purchase a CB&Q version of this locomotive (model power), it comes with a Delta trailing truck.  Might save you the time of casting one.

Let me join all those with smiles on their faces! It is really informative (and just neat) to see these projects develop.

I had a few questions....

I got it off e-bay.
a few years ago and at the time I did not save the name the seller said was the builder.

Oh cool, thanks for sharing Victor.  Not a bad P-10 at all, pretty nice for sure.  What was the body made from?

I am doing a lot of guessing here...

the loco shell looks like a casement over the original arnold shell
and the tender looks scratchbuilt.

I am not certain about the tender trucks.
I think they are rivarossi trucks....  not sure what supplied them,
tender or passenger car.

I have not examined it too closely because I bought it for parts...
and decided it was a pretty good model.
I just did not know the prototype.

so I keep it in a display case.

more than anything else about it
I wish I had kept the maker's name.
He deserves the credit and honor.

Hey now...

EDIT:

That Arnold 4-6-2 DID have a Delta trailing truck with a spoked wheel!  May I impose on you, Victor (or anyone) to measure
the diameter of said wheel and tell me what it is (and if it's 42"... ummm... does anybody have one they will part with?)

And now, Jason, back to your engine building thread.  Sorry!   ;)

Thanks all.
I got one of them coming from a kind soul as well now.  It appears after it seeming to be hopeless,
I have multiple possible sources for this spoked wheel.  Thank you again.

I'll report on what works out the best when I get them.
