I need the pilot screw size for a MP 2-8-2

I've lost the screw that holds the pilot to the frame on a Model Power 2-8-2. Does anyone know where to get one or do you know the size of the screw required.

Thanks

MRC is suppose to have their act together on the Model Power parts by mid-October you might have to wait until then to get a replacement.  :(

Yes, if I had to guess, I would say an M2.0.  It is also a shoulder screw, which is going to make it very tricky to replace if you can't get one from Model Power and you don't have a stash of them from other engines lying around.  If I knew exactly the length and diameter of the
screw and the shoulder, I could hunt around and see what I have for you.  But I don't own a 2-8-2.

You could start by getting yourself some M1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 screws and testing to see what fits the thread.  (That is, unless somebody in here has a 2-8-2 and can do that for you).

I have a 4-6-2, but no 2-8-2.

Assuming it is the same screw they used in the 4-6-2:

It is a flat-head, M1.4, shoulder screw

Total Length:  11.6 mm
Shoulder length: 5.25 mm
Shoulder diameter: 2 mm
Head diameter: 3 mm

I have a lot of shoulder screws, but nothing like this.  If I were you, I'd just get an M1.4 screw about 1/2" long, and slip a sort bit
of brass tube over it to create the larger smooth shoulder part by the head.
