While we don't use any pins or dowels on the standard Modutrak modules, I did install hinges on the Wausau set-up yard modules. One door hinge on each side of the fascia and the pin drops in to not only align the modules vertically and horizontally, but it serves as the clamp as well.
If our articulated leg design didn't restrict modules to needing to slide up and down, I'd use the door hinges on every permanent module set.
