Just noticed that the MILW and SOO has the proper reduced fuel tanks!

The HO Milw unit shows dropsteps and chains at each end of the unit, which is not correct for Milw SD40-2's, not sure about the Soo ('cept for the ones they got from Milw) Fixing that will be a lot easier than chopping the tanks to the correct length.  Not sure why they decided to use the last paintscheme rather than the middle "bilboard sceme. Yup, this could be painful to Mr wallet! Might even have to get a Soo and paint it out  & re stencil it MILWUAKEE !!!!!

Somehow, I can't picture a couple of Southern SD40-2s hauling 50 Intermountain ice reefers. I'm getting dizzy...
So don't assign them to a train of ice reefers and assign them to whatever kind of freights the Southern would normally have assigned them to instead. One year won't be too much of a quibble in terms of most building details etc, just the roster bits like the ice reefers.

EDIT: Also, the post above; I'm sure there's an Ed's Law photo out there somewhere anyways  :trollface:  :tommann:  :ashat:

Interesting that we now have reservations on not one, but three runs..... and none have appeared yet.

I guess they are relying on the reception of the Canadian versions.

I assume that the photos are of HO units, so are we sure that they will be doing a short fuel tank version? I kinda have my doubts about this, but would be pleased to be wrong (wouldn't be the first time). It would also be great if manufacturers would produce non-chain end rails for those road that didn't use them.  I don't think that the Milwaukee had any units with end chains and drop steps.

Just no complaints if they are good and your favorite road name is sold out, or not produced due to lack of interest.  IM just cancelled a whack of freight cars presumably due to limited interest.

Only Milwaukee units with chains and drop steps were the U30C built to BN specs for joint coal service from Colstrip Montana to Portage Wisconsin. I wish they did the bill board scheme! I will get some Milw and Soo ones.

I'm not wagering my money with their track record on SDs.

If they don't realize that they have to actually deliver product with an unproven reputation, then you know what, they don't get my money.

I can make all sorts of pretty drawings too, but that doesn't mean they're going to deliver. I mean, that's not even a drawing of a model. It's a prototype drawing.

I'm not saying they're going to be bad, I'm just saying, that my judgement and dollars will be reserved until I actually see one (or at least trustworthy photos of one).

Ed, I think you're basing your opinion on the tunnel motors. The SD40-2W was a major improvement over the TM's (I have examples of both). Not Kato to be sure, but right up there with Atlas, only road specific... which is better IMO. You seen my SD40-2W shots :)

I do understand the desire NOT to risk capital before seeing the final product... I just haven't your will power  ;)
