He says that the ad will be ran for September but not when he will actually reveal what it is... guess we all need to learn a little patience but I thought we learned enough from Rapido Trains...

Ouch...

It's been so long they ought to call it the -3 project.

Hmm... that rules out
a tank car...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

A search at Railcarphotos turns up FLATCARS meeting this criteria.

Flat car or box car.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards an Espee style 53'6" flat car (such as a F-70-6/7/8/10 class) for lumber service. Suitable boxcars seem to be built later than 1953 (on the SP).

Surely something to do with the SP....

Must be a bulkhead flat car - what else?

Yeah, my first thought, too. However, could be a wide-door boxcar. SP had a huge fleet of boxcars for handling plywood out of the PNW. Recall that this was before shrinkwrapping, so ply had to be handled in closed cars.

Either way, it'll be something I grew-up with, watching trains over Tehachapi. Lumber went down the SJ Valley and not the coast. The WOT offering will likely be something I need in every number offered.
