Walthers Amfleets New "Proto" vs older cars

I am looking at buying some Walthers Amfleets and am looking for some hands on differences between the new "Proto" series and the older ones that came in the tan/blue/red boxes with the window in the box (not the older ones where they are shrink wrapped in the box).  I know the Proto cars have the "stainless" paint but I'm not sure if the details are a huge jump to justify the $60 per car, or the $25 I can get for the older cars.

I'm not sure if this is the case or not (but I have time to post so why not speculate  :tommann: ), but some of the older Walthers cars require drilling and adding grabs and other detail parts.  At some point, they came from the factory with all detail parts added but with a price hike.

Pretty much what I thought. I don't really think that the stainless plating is worth the ~$30 price increase, especially since the cars appear to be pretty dirty unless they are in the area with a wash facility.  Looks like I am gonna stick with the "2nd gen" cars.
