The flatcar doesn't appeal to me, even though it is a prototypical length.  The MSRP really doesn't appeal to me.  The 35' trailers though, I'm interested in.  I'd like to be able to acquire a handful of those without having to pay the vig for the flatcar.

I'm interested in the resin roadside structures.

Perfect for the roadside attraction modules! My wife's family used to run a tepee hotel in Canada in the 1950s, but I think I will pass on these. Maybe lost in these announcements are the N scale resin structure flats. A couple of possibilities there but the MSRP is a bit daunting.

Best wishes, Dave

Yikes, didn't notice that on the MSRP. Lets hope that was a typo!

The MSRP does look pretty bad but Bachmann is also known for deeply discounting its prices when it comes to what dealers pay.

Yes. Recent example: new S-4's have been going for ~$50 from eBay dealers yet the MSRP is still $139.

I'd be interested in the SD45 if it's new tooling.

Question to you steam heads... is this different than the LL Berk?

The 35' trailer has a ribbed nose, which is a first for N scale. I hope they make them available in backs like Atlas did with their TOFC trailers. HO guys get a tractor to go along with it.

There was also some false front buildings including a parking garage. There could be potential there.

I believe the 50' plug door may have new sides, or at least cleaned up... they said it was retooled. Obviously not a big deal for us, but its nice to see them totally refresh their train set equipment with better products.

I was a bit disappointed there was no GP9 announced. I was hoping that would follow their GP7 a few years ago. It would also be nice to see a new GP40/GP40-2.

As long as the discounts are deep enough to offset the $42 MSRP, I don't mind picking up a few ACL/Yale models and unloading the flatcars in trade or on the `Bay.

Yes, judging by the HO version, and they follow their MO of road specific details they may have two specific boilers, C&O and NKP.

To clarify that answer - It's based on the same prototype as the LL/Walthers Berkshire so it's the same size/drivers, etc.  Hopefully and quite probably it's a totally new model design done by Bachmann and not re-used tooling.

Bachmann raised the prices for all their British models fairly steeply this year. Not surprised to see it's across the board.

No need to look farther than the Crew Lounge...  Although written from a UK perspective, it still applies here in the  US.
Bachmann execs explain why prices will go up

Quote
From tomorrow through to 1st May 2019 there are wage increases dictated by government which will come into effect roughly at an increase of 20% per annum for those five years meaning that wages will effectively double from around £3/hr to £6/hr. It will probably cost employers another £1/hr to cover the mandatory free medical insurance and pension rights their employees will now have.

Hourly costs going up 20% a year for the next few years...  China won't be the bargain it used to be.  Although still cheaper than US hourly wages.
