Cars can go to the Safe Handling location in Auburn for transfer to trucks.

Interesting. I had just seen that place on my recent visit and wondered if they got rail service. Apparently, they do, but not a lot of it.

I wonder if the railroad has proposed this yet? The article makes it seem like B&M is thinking they'll have to have trucks long haul the beans from the fields, not from the transload.

SLR served B&M about 3-4 times a month. Not a money venture for them at all. B&M was advised that they could transload at Safe Handling from day one of their talking about filing in October but B&M had never responded to it.

There was a lengthy discussion about it on Railfan.net on how there had been reports that B&M could truck them from transload still at a 1/4 cost of an all truck route.
