Did Rapido Trains ever build the UAC TurboTrain in N Scale? If I remember correctly, only the H0 model was manufactured and delivered.

Jason has said for several years that we dearly want to do the Tubro in N scale but more so than any model I haven seen this project isn't just "hit the 1:160 shrink ray and have at it. The engineering challanges in HO are significant, ergo we are undertaking a design revision of it in HO that will lead to a release of a revised HO turbo next year. From that I have high hopes that we can finally overcome some design issues and make an N scale Turbo a reality for many of us who are eagerly awaiting it.

Bachmann made a turbo in the late 60's / early 70's but it was very poorly made and barely ran.

The Bachmann version from the infancy of N scale was a crude toy compared to that I expect Rapido will produce.  http://spookshow.net/turbo.html

I have a question on the Penn Central FL-9 in the blue & yellow scheme. Did any of these see long distant runs on early Amtrak trains (New York to Chicago) or were these mainly used on the east coast? Wouldn't mine using one like that on a rainbow train for something.

The blue/yellow PC units were in commuter service and morphed into the MTA units.  The Amtrak units came from the pool of units that were in intercity service.

Rapido had a Facebook post telling a story of a customer complaining that they never make American prototypes.  They referred to this.  Funny thing is they haven't actually made this yet!

They did true 36' wood meat reefers and Pullman Bradley Light Weights in HO though, which no one else has done, so I think that gives them American "street cred" prior to the FL9 release.
