I was not aware that these units where that different for the other roads.  That being said, if someone has a decent set of drawings and information on the other units I might be able to come up with something.  After all, the nose was the hard part.  If it is a matter of stretching the car body and rearranging/adding details it shouldn't be too difficult.

In other news, all recent orders of the AB pairs are printing and should be shipping soon!

one problem will be most Drawings will be from the 60s or earlier.
some may be close, others not so close.
but since the Cabs are the hardest part, how about the CNJ Dual Cab units ?
again each group of 3 has differances from the other group of 3.
or how about the full lenght GM&O units,or the C&NW Baggage/loco with the similar cab ?
will look to see if there were other  "Baby Faces"  out there besides the Centipedes which
BLI is threatnening to produce later this year.

seriously,I don't think the CNJ units were even like each other, you never see two that look the same..I think if you see the pic of a particular loco every five years, they'd look different. I have drawings of a CNJ A&B unit, probably as built, which would be fine with me,and the double ender..

My CNJ AB set arrived yesterday.  I have them soaking in the Bestine right now.  Overall, they are not as bad as I was anticipating.  Actually, they are pretty decent.  There are obvious horizontal lines across the side panels and roof from the layering but I can get away with sanding some surfaces.  I am going to make some etched brass panels to cover the side panels and for the screens as well.  Not a bad first experience with Shapeways at all.  I wish ADC had printed these but I can definitely work with what i got.

The latest "The Railroad Press" magazine (issue 102) has an eight page article on the CNJ Babyfaces, with color photos of them in blue and tangerine; green and yellow toothpaste stripe; and green austerity schemes, as well as a few black and white photos and some text about them.

Just received my CNJ A?B set. They were very well done, the only thing that should have been left alone in the design by Piperguy was trying to make too much detail available to do, should have left the dimpples in the stirups out of the design, they cause the sturips to be weak and break at those points very easy. Other than that point I think Piperguy has done a very good job od designing these units and brining us a model that is not available to us N Scalers otherwise.

Paul, thank you for the heads up on the Railroad Press issue.  I am looking for that one now.  I received my AB set a while ago and since have ordered 3 more A-units.  The second batch of shells was exactly the same as the first in quality which is great.  I was concerned about the consistency between runs.  I also had issues with one stirrup breaking off.  Easily solved by gluing it back on.  I am going to make a set of etchings that will contain all of the necessary details as well as screens for the intakes and some overlay sections for the sides and roof that will cover up the visible stepping on the panels.  I will also add stirrups to this set.  I got my hands on a set of ER models sharks and found that the B-unit fits quite well but the A-unit will require some frame modification around the nose.  Not a big deal at all really.  Overall, I am really impressed by this whole process so far.  Piperguy nailed the design and execution of the shell and shapeways came through with a product that we can work with.  It is not a finished model by any stretch of the imagination but for those of us who just want something to start with, this is perfect.  I also hope to have some decals for these (tangerine and blue units) with the help of Rich Yourstone.  Happy times for the CNJ guys!

Scott, are you gonna make the etchings available? I'd like to know about the decals, too.I have some old Northeast decals for the tangerine units, but they're ancient.I just tried to paint a set of NYO&W F3's with a few sets I had..I put put Microscale liquid decal film on them, they went on okay, when I came back after they dried, they had fallen off and turned pretty much to dust.

Lou, there will be extras.  I will keep a few on hand for Railwire guys.  If I can get the decals to go, there will definitely be extras.

I have an ABA F3 set of Con Cors I'm working on right now,but I'm selling them to buy an ABA set of Kato F3's to do for myself.I'd love a tangerine/blue ABA of the Babyfaces, and at some point,a double ender,so I'd be interested in a lot of decals.

When I get the etching artwork finished I will figure out how many to make and will make sure that anybody that wants them gets them.  Same for the decals.  I was just doing some research on the models and found that the A-unit that is available on Shapeways is absolutely correct for unit #72.  73-79 require modification, mainly adding or subtracting screens.  I can account for these variations in the etchings.  I am having no luck finding B-unit photos to confirm which unit it is modeled after.

No completed Baldwin's here yet. I am still working on the etchings. Rich Yourstone and I are also working in the decals. I can't wait to see the finished product.
