I think it is ok to say that we can put some stock into this rumor

I knew there would be a UP excursion train in Kato's future the minute I finished mine, but I figured they'd be a little quicker on the draw. Shoot, I wrapped mine up almost two week ago, lol  :D

Cheers,

Mental note:  Purchase 844...  assign it to switcher service in the Yard during Op's...  Banish Ed to the Yard.... Watch Ed's head explode in conflict  :scared:

That'll work.  We've had #4449 as the local's power.   :D

So, what you're saying is if there are rumors, it must be true?  And this is why our democracy is failing, too many people believing the internet and TV news.  Whatever happened to "facts" (not fax)...

 :|

No, what I'm saying is that it would make sense for this tweeted picture of #844 to be a hint since there were rumors. The rumors had to originate from somewhere, and since they posted the picture of the real 844 with the caption "We thought we'd take a break from posting info on models we've already released to stop and admire some scenery" would be a coded reference to admiring something they will be releasing.

IOW, I was NOT saying that those rumors must be true, only that since there were rumors, it would make sense that this is a hint towards them making the 844.

As I posted on TB, KATO reminds me that I quit buying green bananas because I don't have time to watch them ripen. I hope this more than a rumor but have my doubts. Maybe they are trying to judge the demand for this release.

But that was still a link between Kato and the 844, and the new picture indicates an even stronger connection and interest in the 844 for them.

At any rate, I have other things to spend money over an excursion locomotive that is for a prototype I don't model and I have no layout to run on, so I guess it's a moot point anyways

Like I said I would buy one to pull my COLA, but until I see it on Kato letterhead in mass distribution I am not going to get emotionally invested.

The business train itself does not interest me in the least.  It is not an authentic classic passenger train.  But I do like the auxiliary tendors.

I will put in 25 bucks toward the purchase, if I can be there for the event.

Kato can do any steam engine they want, they aren't getting my money unless they do a Nickel Plate Berk, or a N&W J both of which I can get from others if I really wanted to have one.
Your layouts nice, but it needs more Conrail !

One word:

Bachmann.

The most recent version of the J is a pretty darn good engine.   Bachmann did a terrific version of the NKP S2 class in HO; one has to assume that sooner or later that will find its way to N.
Even has the Mars light!
