Gavin and I went train watching today and saw nine trains in 2 1/2 hours on the Ex SP and Now UP southern Main.
This was at Aden NM west of El Paso Texas and east of Deming NM. We had a Blast today.

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life.
When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.
 I wrote ‘happy’.
They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

It is the old SP boarder route and is double track now.

John:  The Transcon is the ATSF/BNSF line, and is further north, through Albuquerque and Flagstaff, roughly along I-40.  I saw it many years ago, but didn't get far enough south to see the SP.

The Sunset Route!  Mike, I love the "selfie" video of you and your grandson in the middle section.  Very special.

One of those KCS heritage units was in Conway, PA just a few days ago.

I agree with Gary's statement,

My father was not interested in trains, nor were my grandfathers. I never took any photos of trains when I was young, I just watched them roll past by grandparents home. It was't until I joined the USAF and met other railfans, that I realized people do take pictures of trains.

@$%^ you lucky  :ashat:

I spent about 6 hours on my local CN mainline a couple weeks ago and saw 3...

 :|

I need to stop trying to do anything in the mid-afternoon; there appears to often be a bit of a dead spot here.

Planning to try to actually get up early tomorrow (Saturday) morning and try to get some early action. Don't expect I'll get volume like yours though...

Hope you do have some luck. We were just there on the right day and time as we have gone out and not seen ANY trains (odd of one of the UP mains).
