Too bad as I like this one the best. I like the uniformity of the car carriers in that train (yes, I know that they aren't all identical, but still), and the neat and clutter-free ballast. It looks like a ... model train layout.
That was actually probably the most interesting shot to get. We were heading west on I-40 and saw a headlight in the distance. We hit the next exit, hung a left and flew down the dirt road until it ended in a dry wash. We went under the tracks and as we came up to track level, we realized he was pretty close and moving pretty good. I saw a hill about 3/4 mile ahead and decided to floor our rental SUV up the maintainer road to get the elevation. After we got the shots, I checked the SUV as we'd gone through the native brush and discovered is given it a good case of 'desert pinstripes'.
Really glad we got the $8 insurance!
