Not sure how big this is going to get, but from the pictures it looks pretty serious already. Hopefully they were able to uncouple most of the cars from the fire.

I live near Lynchburg, and know that area well, the tracks are on the flood plain of the James river and are roughly 10 - 12 feet above the NORMAL river level. We have had extremely heavy rain this week, and it wouldn't surprise me if the ground shifted under the roadbed. This area is well known for flooding in heavy rains

If this was a Bakken crude load, that stuff is VERY flammable. Problem is nothing has been done to to that into account in the way it gets transported.
