I could try my hand at this maybe, need to check the schedule for the next month though. I would do this strictly as a side project as it has no place on my current layout plan.
I agree with the number being 17766, which my guess is the same as this also:

The end of the car says 8000 gallons, but it is shorter than the Intermountain car. So could I assume the dia of the tank would be closer to the Microtrains car?

I haven't posted work here in years, but I will play in N scale.
Looks like an easy 1 night project and fun. Is that a sand tank btw?
I going to start with a Rapido tank car , since I almost tossed out some.
Id hate to cut up a MT tank.

Guess it would be a type 21 ACF car. A 8000 car would have a 28' long tank that is 83" wide.
I think the best way to model the (whole) car would be a MTL 3-dome tankcar frame and a shortened Bachmann ACF tankcar tank. Hopefully Microscale 60-236 will work.

Sweet!
I plan to make the whole original car. Bought a MTL 3-dome for the frame and a Bachmann car for the tank. Hopefully the Microscale decal set will work, it says post 1960 on it.

So I didn't want to start on this with the layout being built, but.
I took the MTL 3 dome and Bachmann cars out of their cases and noticed the MTL frame didn't have very much detail
So I chopped down and shortened the Bachmann car. Supposed to be a 8000gal type21 car.
