Does anyone have this Micro-Trains car?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/201062213129?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

If so, can you tell me the built date? The picture above is maddeningly just out of focus.

Hmm... I'm guessing it's
1967. No particular reason...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

I can't tell you the exact date, Kiz, but the two-panel Consolidated COTS stencil (white on black panel in the lower right ) puts the car 1974 or after. IIRC this is after your modeling target.

Thanks for the replies. '65 is in my modeling range (1971), so if I decide to bid on the car, the car will have the COTS stencil removed.

Hmm... I wasn't too
far off... cool...!

This number series doesn't show in the '66 or '69 ORER.

What's the door opening width or does it say it's double door at all?  There's an HO version that's a double door (same road number).

"This 50’ standard box car with plug door and no roofwalk is painted light grey with two large blue bands to the right of the door. Lettering is done in black with black end print. CN 289004 was originally built in April 1965 by National Steel Car Company from an earlier series insulated box cars. In January of 1981, to combat high energy costs, CN Rail’s Montreal car shops in Point St. Charles, Quebec, took five cars from the 283 series, removed their heating equipment, improved their insulation and renumbered them into the XPI “SuperTherm” 289 series. All five cars were off the roster by October 1994."

Looks like they miss your time frame...

Yeah, sure looks like it. Or I could renumber the car, remove the stencils, strip the paint, repaint the car, decal it for my Kisatchie, Gulf & Northern...

Hmm... I'm gonna try
to convince Kiz to buy
an undecorated car...

Hmmm.   High energy costs?  Charcoal's really not that expensive, but the guy running alongside keeping the fire going underneath the car must have been like the worst job in Canada, particularly in the winter!
