Yeup; one of the turbine plants is actually about an hour down the road from me in Greenville, SC; believe it or not, but I'm pretty sure it's served by a shortline; can't remember if it's Carolina Central or Carolina Piedmont or something else

Completed some more rock work around the river this weekend and completed the road section leading up to the bridge for the coal mine.  Was even able to use some scrap bottom pieces I had cut off of bridge abutments to use as retaining walls for the bridge.  I also started painting the road and adding sanded grout for texture.  Unfortunately, while I was using the vacuum to remove some of the sanded grout between layers, the foremost section of road was sucked up completely.    Oh well. 

Anyways, before I put the time in fixing the road and starting the process all over again, I wanted to get your expert opinions on how the color of the road goes with the rest of the scene.  I'm on the fence at the moment and can go either way as to if it looks right.  Should it be a darker grey, closer to the color of the rocks?  Can simply air brushing it still give a good effect?  Below are some pictures of what it looks like.

I'm way more worried about the sharp compressed s curve then the color. The road surface just needs a little weathering but making those turnS will be tough.

Same here.  I realize that, in reality, you needed the jog to make the Unitrack crossing, but what's the justification if it were the prototype?

Ditto on this. To me it seems more like a gradual angle would be more appropriate.

All good points, but Dave, you hit the nail on the head.  I will see what I can do to remedy this, as I don't want to readjust the bridge due to the work already in place on the river bank.  Guess this is what happens when you plan as you go.

After years away, I seem to be drifting back into the model trains. I'd swear I used to hang out around here, but when I tried to log in, it said my user name didn't exist.

Between (re?)registering and being activated I managed to sort out the problem I was going to ask about. Now, I've got my trains running better than they ever have. They're like the videos I see of other people's trains, now.

Maybe, I can see about finishing the scenery....
