I believe the GN 39408-39409 cars were delivered in the Empire Builder scheme - the Feb 1954 build date suggests this as that was the scheme at that time for special equipped boxcars. The 21450-21939 cars that were renumbered appear to be 12 panel boxcars as built at GN's St. Cloud shops, not PS-1 cars. When I first saw the Atlas announcement I suspected a "foobie' as I didn't think the GN had any PS-1 40' boxcars, but in checking - they did have that one order. The 12 panel cars also have a 6' door, rather than the correct 8' door of the Atlas model.ex GN mud hop extraordinaire
The PS-1's that we are producing were built at Michigan City, February 1954 and delivered to the GN as 21950-21964, painted brown, with black ends and white lettering. Sometime around 1960, they were repainted into the Empire Builder scheme. That being said, we have to change that "NEW" date to a shop date...
GAH! Simultaneous posting! Again thanks for the clarification Cory, means I can't purchase one and renumber back into the original..... FWIW: Your posted artwork is also missing a shop date on the L&N car....Can you answer my question regarding the scheme on the Southern car about to be released. Is it the 'as built' scheme?
