Stripping paint from Atlas GP-35???

Bought Atlas GP-35 in BNSF yellow/blue warbonnet paint from vendor at big train show on Saturday. Want to re-paint for Housatonic. Put body in 91% alc for a few hours last night. ATSF blue came off, but most yellow is intact, even after soaking in Chameleon tonight. Cab and sill are now grey, but main shell and walkway/handrails all still yellow. Molded in that color???
 It might help anyway with painting into Housy colors. Just never saw this before.

Ah, the video showing a sparking DC motor in the Dremel near alcohol vapors?  I recall having a discussion about this on another thread. But I was assured that the vapor concentration is way too weak for any sort of an explosion. I guess it must be safe then.

Uh, just to possibly state the obvious.... the Atlas website still has parts and undecorated shells for those, nothing against an all-out war on paint that won't come off, but they are available and relatively inexpensive.

Is yours one of the early Kato-made units or the later Chinese version? I have come across locomotive shells from Kato that were molded in colors other than basic gray, but I don't think I've ever come across any from Atlas/China that were.

As stated, want to do this up as a Housatonic loco. Have no idea of what paint to use.
 Also, their units have an additional "tank" nestled above the rear of fuel tank. Note the spigot on end. What might this be???

Since you don't need yellow handrails, double check that the ones' you have don't cause the sill to warp.  Were these handrails held down with tape at all?

I've seen some of these color molded handrails suffer from shrinkage where the normal black plastic ones don't.

Jason, yes handrails stuck down with thin double sided tape, ala Trainman GP-15.
