Since this arrived too late to prepare for the Springfield show, here's an advance Newsletter scoop for the Railwire crowd.  As chronicled in the latest LSG entry — with the ProJet now firing on all cylinders, the logjam is broken on a number of projects.  This is the pre-heptane master for the 1950s version of White Tower, which to date has been released only in the Sovereign Modeler Series.  This version will feature a white resin exterior that must be assembled, and the same XHD rapid prototype interior used with the 1930s/1940s Art Deco version. 



This master just arrived yesterday.  Click on the pic to zoom-in.  The 1950s version will be out at some point this year, and available through the website only.

Looks interesting Bryan. I think a lot of modelers will look at this image and think that it doesn't look like much of anything. Maybe even a little intimidating for such a tiny structure. Perhaps when we see more of it, it will be better understood. How was this part made? It appears to be laser-etched.

It is a rapid prototype of a 3D digital model produced on a ProJet 3000+ at the highest resolution.  Once it is cleaned of wax by soaking in heptane, a rubber mold will be made and resin castings produced.  It will share the interior of the 1930s version.

That is a great book and I highly recommend it, as it contains photos of most of the WT buildings from the 1940s through the 1970s.

The 1950s version will be available for sale later this year.  The 1940s version is a made-to-order item currently available through the ESM website.
