Rapido and N scale

I usually keep my posts focused on prototype photos, but I am excited by the Osgood-Bradley announcement. I can honestly say I have been waiting for these cars for about 40 years. So, when you divide the length of time (and multiple failures in trying to build my own) by the price of the car, I'd say they are a bargain. If Rapido wants, they can send me a carton now and make them all New Haven -- both hunter green and black and orange. I have to say this is one of the most exciting announcements I have heard from a manufacturer since Atlas rolled out the RS-3 and saved N-Scale in the early 1980s.

I think the O-B cars are on the high side, but I'll need all the B&M ones on offer and some of the NH ones as well.

Very happy for those who have waited so long for these.  It must feel like I did when FVM announced the Hiawatha a few years ago.

A note about the price: the newsletter says these will come with the Easy-Peasy lighting which would be an $8.95 add-on if bought separately.

...and which I wish that they would not include. I hate any sort of battery-operated lighting systems. That is any which use replaceable batteries.

Yeah I know, I can remove the easy-peasy things and sell them. But that is added work and I will never fully recoup the money.

You mean "how did he manage to avoid becoming unscary?"

The scariest were the early ones with skull-like cloth faces.  One of them was just out of shot.  After causing seven heart attacks and a mass panic we asked him to leave.

I almost stayed HO but there were rumors when I went to N scale about these cars in N. Its finally coming true. I guess I will stay with N scale lol. Should be ordering most of these, at least the BM, NH ones.

Well I took the plunge and pre-ordered a GMD-1. After some quick searching, it looks like 1601 is the best choice for me as it was one of the last six axle GMD units running, and ran into 1999. Lord knows they never made it to Boston, but I will pretend they were loaned off season before being sent off for rebuilding in Winnipeg.

Now make that 4 axle version so I can build my NW5!

I have to wonder why no one's come out with a system to keep the batteries charged from track power. You'd still get the non-flickering, but not have to worry about the batteries dieing.
