Wow man, that is bad a$$! Well, except for the slippers maybe. But the awesome Belgian block earned you plenty of street cred to burn.

Laser cut some ramps, platforms, and retaining walls.

Are the railings lasered too?  Nice work.

Yep, everything is lasered.  The polybak material and "hold" details about .5mm wide, which is how thin those railings are.  Anything thinner and the laser singes them making them brittle and charred and they fall apart.

The structure is just a nice 1/8" baltic birch,  the thin details are polybak (laminate flooring underlay) and the little supports holding up the emergency walkway are ~1/16" "Taskboard" which is a sort of art cardboard that also works great in laser cutting but probably wasn't the right material for those supports as it tends to be a little soft on the edges.

Did some painting!

Feedback most welcome!!  I've still got weathering and details to do of course.

Nice work, look forwarding to seeing progress on this. Nice to see another modern layout around here, I think that makes 3  :D

I had plans to cut very very tiny little plates with rivets to super-detail the blue bridge, but after placing the industry that will go in front of it, all but the road overpass section is pretty much hidden so I think it's ok as is.

Um . . . Not. Mine's 1995-2005, and there's a host of others (mostly shelf switching stuff leaving aside Gary's Tehachipi). But that's neither here nor there.

Haven't updated the thread here in a while so here's some recent pics of my laser wood.

It's all coming together and no clearance issues.

I will definitely be keeping an eye on this thread. Your focus on modern and urban should give me a lot of inspiration for my layout. Looks great so far.
