Hmm... Did Kiz just say
he's a greaser...?

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Thanks guys!

Any tips or ideas?  I want it to look perfect and I've always counted on this forum to find fault with everything :)

Little more progress.  Did some minor washes and generally continued progress.  Also started adding sidewalks!

I really think this is effective.  Great work.

Since you obviously have the skills needed to carve ( :)), have you thought about scribing in asphalt patches, cracks and potholes?  That would really fit that kind of scene and take it to the next level.

Very nicely done! Would you like to do the same for my layout?

More sidewalks and some road lines.

I've sent this picture to my american traffic engineer friend, see what he comes up with for signage and markings.

I'd suggest the following to improve an already awesome scene. First, lighten the sidewalk color: cement varies from very light grey to beige. Then, add some oil streaks to the pavement--with a soft brush, gently rub just a little black powdered chalk along the centers of the travel lanes (and add some cracks and patches, as recommended previously, while you're at it). You can also use the same chalk technique to tone down and weather the brilliant road stripes. And finally, assuming this is supposed to be an American scene, replace the European vehicles. Wiking and Atlas make US-proto cars and trucks.

Yeah I want to investigate using more powders.  On my last layout I used some black charcoal to add oil smudges down the centres of the roads.  I also like to add lots of asphalt patches and cracks.

The cars are all exactly the vehicles I see here in north america (canada).  Mostly japanese and european vehicles.  Direct import used japanese vehicles are very popular here too, you see a lot of those tiny trucks and vans with right hand drive.  The rest though are bog standard internationally popular makes and models you'd see anywhere. I was excited to find tomix makes vehicle packs of the cars I actually see daily.  So it's all 100% to prototype.  I'm just upset the honda fits I got in these modern car packs are the pre-2009 era fits with the ugly fronts rather than the re-designed 2009+ models like I have.  But anyways, the selection of vehicles is pretty darn close to my north american prototype.  Could always use more variety of course.  I do have a couple packs of Smart cars too, see a ton of those silly things on the roads here.

Was there a track plan posted in here somewhere? I missed it.

I live about 90km from downtown Vancouver B.C. and you've got the look down pretty good. The architecture there is an interesting mix. Any plans for a Sky Train line?

Here's the most recent track plan.  I do pretty much all my drawing and laser cutting plans via this document so sometimes it gets a bit messy.  I've got the benchwork turned off right now but it's fairly obvious where it would be.

Lower deck will (hopefully exist and) be a nature scene with bridges and mountains and all the good BC stuff.

The setting is a fantasy island city somewhere between Vancouver and Nanaimo.

What radius curves in the RH peninsula? For the mainline, not trolley.
The track in brickwork reminds me of Granville Island, under the bridge. Are there any other places in Vancouver with tracks in brick still exposed?
