Yea, if Rapido can get thumped for deep board grooves, this company should get seriously dope slapped for that masonry.

I bet it could be filled in. It's not a big unsolvable problem, just a pain. You could use some Robert's mortar on it (after sealing!) and maybe multiple coats of it will fill it in to make it less deep.

You could almost get away with filling that gray bottom half completely. It's barely noticeable at distance:

That's because everybody knows O Scale and especially old Lionel stuff is durable and prototypical, while "N" scale is just a toy, a passing fad, like slot-car racing.

I've been cutting foam almost every night now, and wanted to solicit some feedback on what I'm planning to do.

I'm looking to meld two locations together in the remaining stretch: Hanover Junction (https://goo.gl/maps/Pt3F6RyQK9F2) and Wago Junction (https://goo.gl/maps/eMDvNshJzcx). HJ is arguably one of the most famous locations on the NCR, being the location of a frequently seen photo of Abraham Lincoln: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanover_Junction_Railroad_Station. Ironically, while trying to scale the building out for the paper cutout you see in the photos below, I used "Lincolns" as a unit of measurement to size things up.

Here's what I'm thinking.

The turd looking thing is a stream.

I like it, generally.  I like the raised rail bed.  I think if you brought up the farm field in the middle of Wago and undulated the ground a bit through there, it would become a signature photo spot.

How about a few trees between the railbed and the turd? and agree with Lee's suggestion of some undulation around the farm scene.

Oh yeah, that's the plan. That's one of the reasons I need to get the "scoop" tool working.
I'm also on the lookout for some thinner stuff around here too, like 1/2", but I only need 2sq' of it.

Yep. I'll probably do some scrub brush in there too, but I kinda want to keep it low to provide nice broadside views of the trains along that straight section. However, in the corner, where the curve is? That might get all treed in.
