I'm repowering a Baldwin centipede. I've been corresponding with Ebit in Japan.

He said check out p 35. Maybe he was in error about the book.
Or maybe the steamer has the same geartower I'm building.

Me too. I'd wonder why a Centipede would be in a "steam" book.

Page 35 has fabrication instructions and pictures of a gearbox that Ebi built for a Key/Yulim 2-8-2 (said loco didn't originally come with a gearbox of its own).

That must be what's going on.

He was communicating that when he did a Centipede, he did the same procedure as on this steamer.

If anyone can send me scans of just the gearbox construction, it would be helpful.
