Went to Athearn's Facebook page to ask about the possible chance of a N scale SDP45 and got this reply. :D

Thanks for the suggestion Johnathan. An N scale version of the SDP45 is on our new tooling suggestion list.

I know it does not mean there will be one but I can hope.

An SDP45 would be super cool.

I’m not here to argue

If folks are interested they need to speak up so that Athearn will have something to consider.  While I am no where near the era needed to operate one I would likely buy one just because it was the last type of unit regularly ran on the San Joaquin Daylight, which ran through my home town until the advent of Amtrak.

Athearn needs one of those reservation meters, like BLI/PCM uses.

If you believe in Athearn doing N scale, I suggest you'll also like this guy who lives at the North Pole and brings you the stuff you want once a year ...

How about the guy ranting on Athearns facebook page about all the profit these companies make buy selling an engine that costs pennies and sell for $200.  What a joker!!

Athearn
makes it for pennies?  Go ahead and make something comparable for a dollar and sell me some SDP45s for a hundred.  Everybody's happy.  Get cracking on that tomorrow will ya, I want my three SP decorated and fully detailed models delivered around October 2013...

Otherwise a candlelight vigil begins 01NOV2013...

I like how he did so much research...like how Bowser is "Made in China."  Umm, no, Boswer is made in PA...the ready to run stuff is assembled in China.

I'd love a pair of SDP45s, one GN and one BN.  I'd like more, but two are probably the budget limit.

Another model I'd like to see is the SDP40F in Amtrak phase one.  They came out early enough for my 1974 layout, and the BN didn't have any trouble with them.  They could also be sold in at least Amt's phase 2, as well as Santa Fe.  Since the FP45 seems to have done well enough to be rerun, the SDP40F should be at least as popular.

Lots of people are asking for the SDP40F, I'd like to see one, but after ATSF had got them.

Be cool to have a pair in Phase III, but a what if world where they got converted to HEP, probably add a HEP generator in the rear where the steam generator once sat.

As for the SDP45s, I'd probably only be in for 1, post steam generator removal.

I'd love an EL spec SDP45 in N scale, their HO release nearly tempted me to HO...
