My problem is that I don't just need a Skytop, I need to equip an entire Olympian Hiawatha. I already have a Skytop shell and a Superdome shell. I could possibly acquire some other shells from Bill, but I believe he has discontinued a couple I might need. I would really rather that Kato would do a commercial run of the train, along with some Little Joe's like they have been hinting at for years.

At one point, when I was younger and not so knowledgeable about the ways of the world, I actually thought that Walthers would do the Hiawatha in N. That was back when they used to say things like HO scale sales help us decide what to offer in N (as if that made any sense whatsoever). I really wanted to believe. 

Now that I am older, and way more cynical, I think that Fox Valley is the logical choice to do the Hiawatha. 

I am a bit embarrassed to ask this as it may damage my Milwaukee Road credibility, but did the Little Joes ever pull a Hiawatha containing the Superdomes and Skytops? I think I know that the F-7 Hudsons didn't, but was curious about  this.

What a way to travel!

Yes, the Little Joe's pulled the streamlined Olympian on the Rocky Mountain Division, and it was Bi-polars on the Coast during the hey-day of the electrification. They tired using Erie-builts at first, ordered especially for the Olympian Hiawatha but apparently the Milwaukee eventually came to the conclusion that the Erie's had too many maintenance problems.

Pretty sure the super domes were twin cities Hi only, For the skytop observation cars, the Creek series were sleepers and assigned to the Olympian, whereas the Rapids series were parlor cars and assigned to the Twin cities Hiawatha's ( was allowed once to peer into one very briefly on one trip to M/StP)

There were definitely superdomes on the Olympian, too. I believe they were a slightly different configuration, but that was on of the selling points the Milwaukee used for the train.

Hmmm.  I suppose I should look through the books on my shelf before posting. 

The Eagles Nest tunnel is cool, but it has always looked a bit too "model railroady" to me, like it almost isn't a real scene. Okay, now that we have the Little Joe question settled, any thoughts on my other statement  that the Superdomes and Skytops never saw service with the very cool Hudson steam locomotives?  Photos or it never happened!

Check your books again  Skytops yes, Superdomes probably not.

The Hiawatha Story p107 has a photo of F7 Hudson pulling the Twin Cities Hi in 1950. Looks like all the cars are the new 1948 series cars and there should be a Skytop at the end!  Author Scribbins states that "steam was uncommon by the last re-equipping (1948)". Super Domes showed up in 1952-53. They were all configured the same and were used interchangeably on the Twin Cities and Olympian Hi's.
