They no longer make replacement parts for those Ungar irons?  That is too bad. I also have one of those with couple of heating elements and tips.  One of mine is IIRC 60W and has a heavy duty tip. I use that baby for those extra large (non model train related) soldering jobs.

They don't make parts for EITHER the Ungar 9000 or the old Archer irons.   You can get tips for the 9000 and the Archer,
but not much of anything else.    So both of mine are on borrowed time.
When the heating elements quit, it's over.

You didn't need any additional flux.  Your rosin core solder is a metal tube made of solder with the center core made with rosin flux.  The flux gets dispensed as the solder melts.
