When EMD pissed off CR by ending the lease on its GP38's, CR reactivated tons of GP35's and GP30's - I believe this was around 1992...

The Allentown yard master told me that whenever a GP35 would come in, they would just find a way to send it back somewhere else ASAP.

- Lou

I know they kept them out of main line service and on the branch lines as much as possible..they were pretty used up by the the early 90`s. Some 35`s got a paint job and they didn't apply the wheel and rail logo to save time..

I'm guessing because they were old, beat up and worn out. Think about it, would you rather have some nice reliable 1978 built GP38-2s for yard power, or some 1964 built unit that had been in storage for five years.

That was the basic reason...

One winter I saw a GP35 LEADING BACKWARDS a couple of C40-8W's through New Market....

The GP-35's replaced the U25B's as local power on the upper Hudson Line in the early eighties.

That is what I figured but not following Conrail I did not know for sure.  I wasn't sure what the road power history was.

Remember I am the one who did not acknowledge that Conrail was even a real rail road until just a few years back.  A buddy of mine bought a Conrail engine just to put on my layout when I wasn't looking to mess with me!  It wasn't until Conrail got split up and started to disappear did I learn an appreciation for it!  Now I get excited when I see a Conrail engine mixed with some CSX power, and it has been awhile since I have seen that happen......

Wonder if Atlas is going to have nose lights in the CP units?

That question is also relevant to the (ex-CP) RaiLink unit, however I think it's safe to say that feature's going to be up to us to correct.

...and I say 'RaiLink unit' singular because 2210 and 2211 are numbers worn by the same loco at different times: originally CP 8210 and renumbered to 5010, it was sold to Helm who re-sold it to RaiLink, who renumbered it (to 2210) in 2000 and renumbered it again (to 2211) in 2006, presumably to resolve a number conflict with LLPX 2210 as both units were working on the Goderich-Exeter Railway.

Is there an actual prototype for the Atlas trailers (both lengths) or one that they could easily be worked into?  Or are they just background princesses?

Both are Pines trailers and prototypical.  Modern though, late `80s and forward.

Assuming these are not Pines trailers.
I’m not here to argue

No, they're not Pines trailers. I don't know what kind of trailers they are.

Hmm... Kiz is guessing
they're not Pines...

The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Yea, they're not Pines.  I'm talking about the ones sold on the Trainman flats and in blister packs, not the newer models sold in gem cases.

At this rate I will not have to custom paint a single Western Maryland unit.

Been looking for someone to do the Louisiana-Pacific hopper but the only prototype I have seen is the 3 bay. A quick search found that they do indeed have the 4 bay version, just never encountered one.

Anyone have a breakdown of the road names and build dates, appropriate era's, etc. for the 5701's?

Assumed you were referring to the Pines line.  The Trainman trailers are not based on any specific prototype.
